Just was canceled from Eastern State Hospital in Williamsburg, Virginia. for asking what type of patients were on the unit that I was reassigned without being told. I was told that the CNE didn't want to take a 'chance' on keeping me. I merely reached out about patient acuity/medical conditions and said there might be patients I am not comfortable with.

Mostly jail transfers and acute psych. Very poor management from units up to administration. Not safe at times due to staffing and work load on nurses. Paper MARS and paper charting. Nurse to pt ratio unsafe. Just a very bad managed facility overall. Mistakes from staff are dealt with punitive and not fixing anything. Very Unorganized!

Poor training of contract nurses, had to scramble a lot for things like computer access and schedule, very short staff, a lot of turnover, and poor management. They also have an antiquated charting system of typing notes out and printing the notes on “sticky” paper to be placed in charts. If staff becomes assaulted, their solution is to ignore the incident.
