You will take up to 5 hematology pts with every four hour urine, labs etc on all of them. You will have five patients all of which will need blood, plts, potassium etc. and if you do happen to get a med surg pt then you will have six patients. It’s more like a step down unit. hard/busy floor but great staff, supportive management, nurse externs/techs/help all RN at least one per shift and they try to have a free charge as well. really welcomed me as a traveler i extended twice

This was my 1st travel assignment and I have not enjoyed it. This hospital has a culture of landing the travelers. My unit was pretty bad about this. All the worst patients ( aggressive, constantly incontinent) were reserved for the travelers. No techs or dont get used to them. You may or may not have techs. And no free charge to help when. You're slammed.

tripled every. single. shift. with patients that should have never ever been tripled and in some facilities would have been 1:1. was sometimes relieved to float to the floor. almost all the nurses on the floor were super nice though, which was a saving grace. typical HCA hospital, never had any supplies.

Floated almost every shift. Once floated to CVICU and my assignment was to admit 4 post-op patients from the cath lab, one right after the other. Completely unsafe.
