Great ratios, outdated computers, very nice staff members, beautiful area (rural and outdoorsy; Burlington is quaint and cool) Hospital is small and serves very acute, sometimes violent patients. No security! Staff are well trained in deescalation. Docs are very hesitant to medicate. Overall, a very good place with excellent intentions and professionalism.

Pros: 1:1 staffing, OT available, have staff charge nurses Cons: 8 hr shifts, Vermont has strict medication administration laws including during emergency situations. You will be working with patients that are not medicated and courts rule in their favor. Patients have to be in process of assaulting you to be placed in seclusion and restraints and given IM.
